Pink Eye, Again

Tori woke up from her nap yesterday with tons of yellow, yucky gunk coming out of her eye. I started her on Maddie and Ryan's eye drops from last week. This morning her eye was swollen shut. She seriously looked like a monster. I took her to the dr and they gave her an antibiotic shot, a prescription for an antibiotic, eye drops and instructions to give her benadryl and motrin. Apparently the shot they gave her is very painful and they said she limp a little due to her leg hurting. POOR TORI!! I'm so glad I took her in though. Within a few hours of her shot her eye looked 20 times better. Now I just need to keep my fingers crossed Maddie and Ryan don't catch it again.

We watched Monster's Inc. last night for "Family Movie Night." The kids and I started family movie night a few months ago when Mike was out of town. They like it because they can eat popcorn in the living room and usually they're not allowed to eat in there. So far we've done it 3 times but Mike has been out of town each time. Last night we laid a sheet on the floor and ate dinner in front of the tv. They loved the movie. Ryan just laughed and laughed and laughed. Tori didn't really watch the movie but she loves eating popcorn!

The fast button

While driving in the car Ryan said "Mom, press the fast button!" I kept fast forwarding the dvd player and Ryan kept yelling, "no! the fast button!" I finally realized he wanted the car to go faster. Now whenever I'm not going fast enough for him he says "press the fast button."

Pinkeye

The kids have pinkeye again. It seems like they just had it. I had to pick Ryan up from the nurse's office at school yesterday. Maddie's had it for several days already and Ryan just got it yesterday. Tori is insisting on getting the eye drops like her big brother and sister so maybe she'll end up staying well.

Funny things Ryan says

1. Different people have different heads.
2. Uncle Dave says Daddy is old and Grandpa is REALLY, REALLY old.
3. There's a playground at Central Market because that's what Jesus wanted.

Maddie's First Day of School

Maddie's first day of school was last week. I was really nervous because she is going to a new school this year but she really loved it! She is in the pre-k "Bridge" class for kids who turned 5 over the summer but are not starting kindergarten until next year. She's not 5 yet but she's almost there. There are only 8 kids in her class and one teacher. I love the philosophy of her new school. It centers around the kids making their own choices and planning out their day themselves. Tori is really upset that she doesn't go to school yet. She carries her backpack with her every day both at drop off and pick up and gets mad when she can't hang it on a hook in the hallway like Maddie and go into a classroom. She actually started crying once because she couldn't reach the hook to hang her backpack. One of my neighbors is going to this school too so we are going to start car pooling this week. It will make things a lot easier because the school is 20 minutes from our house.
Tori started swim lessons 2 weeks ago. She goes once a week for 4 months. I haven't seen much yet but she did blow bubbles in the bath the other night so she's learning something!
